Maldives Travel Diary

From the dramatic landscapes of Iceland to the gentle rolling hills of Tuscany, there have definitely been some memorable moments from the places I’ve travelled to. They’ve all had their quirks and charms, and some have been downright breathtaking. Some I simply cannot wait to go back to, i.e.. Santorini. But if I had to pick one place for a relaxing holiday? It would be the Maldives. Without a doubt.

Celebrating our second wedding anniversary, my husband and I packed our bags and checked in to the W Retreat and Spa Maldives.

The short sea plane ride is pretty special, and gives you great views across the atolls.

The sand at the W is some of the purest, whitest sand that I have seen. Definitely up there with Whitehaven beach in the Whitsundays.

The weather is absolute perfection. A constant 29 degrees celsius both in the water and in the air with very little humidity. Did I mention how perfect this place is?

The staff say you should never miss a sunset. They were right.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. But even a thousand words couldn’t do this place justice.

If you haven’t already, you must add the Maldives to your bucket list. Save your pesos (actually, a LOT of pesos) and make sure you go – you won’t regret it! I must have over a thousand photos from our trip, and will be posting more soon. If I’ve convinced you to escape the blistery Melbourne cold then here are my top 3 must bring clothing items for a trip to the Maldives:
