The next stop for our honeymoon was Provence in the south of France. We hired a car and made our way to Avignon where we we based ourselves for the next 5 nights. One of the things we wanted to do in Provence was to visit all the different surrounding villages. Rousillion was one of them.
It is hard to do justice to the unique splendour of Roussillon. It is located on a ridge with steep red cliffs, and it is as if everything around the village except the village itself has been clawed away and eroded over the years. The whole village is made up of different shades of reds, yellows, oranges and pinks that merge into one as you wander around its spiralling streets. It is also probably true when they say there is not a single house in Rousillion that has the same color as another. The colour is drawn from the palette of the old ochre quarry as Roussillon’s ochre quarry was one of the most significant ochre deposits in the world.
I wore my new Maje Ariane Crepe top for the first time and teamed it with my black Zara shorts for a feminine yet casual and relaxed look. The Charlotte Olympia kitty flats are also thrown in to add some cheekyness to the outfit. The Celine trio is probably the best little summer travel bag ever. It is so light in weight but actually fits quite a fair bit. It goes with almost any outfit you throw on and can be transformed into a clutch for a dinner outfit at night.
